David Uncles listened to my concerns and addressed them. The care was individualised to me. I had no sickness and minimal dizziness (I have a passed history of dropping my blood pressure and some sickness) post surgery. He visited briefly post surgery, to check all was well. A pleasant professional reassuring anaesthetist with an excellent bedside manner.

Being quite anxious about my first operation, David immediately put me at ease with his kind and calming approach. He was professional but human and lightened the situation with just the right amount of humour. I knew I was in good hands. During the pre op preparations he distracted me with chat about my life which helped keep me calm but he also kept me informed throughout the delivery of the anaesthesia. Post operatively he visited me back on the ward to make sure all was well. Thank you David. Joe Parker

Well, what can I say that others haven't? David is like a breath of fresh air. He was utterly professional yet had the human touch which immediately puts you at ease. He's genuinely funny and happy, had as much time as was needed to fully explain everything he was going to do - something that doesn't always happen. Being met in the theatre and everything explained again bit by bit was a great touch. I had to have a nerve block first and I didn't feel a thing as he hit the right spot first time, that was greatly appreciated! In brief I sincerely enjoyed being in his care. He excelled himself with a great bedside manner, a thorough and professional approach to his work and genuinely I felt completely at ease and full of trust. If I needed another operation in the future, I will be asking for David personally. I would go as far as saying that David is the nicest and most professional person I've ever dealt with within the medical profession. Thank you, David.

Response from Dr David Uncles

Thank you for such a comprehensive report to record your experience of the anaesthesia I have provided. The basis underpinning my delivery of anaesthesia is to treat everyone as if they were a member of my immediate family. Naturally, I would wish my family to receive safe, effective compassionate care, and it follows that this principle should mandate a universally high standard of care that I deliver to anyone I have the privilege to look after. Kind regards

I was quite nervous going into the pre-op room but Dr Uncles put me at ease straight away He even cracked a joke which made me smile. I certainly felt that every care was being taken before I went into the operating Theatre.

My time at the hospital in Dr. Uncles care was very good, I was seen to in good time, and despite the number of patients in the waiting room, everyone was seen to and looked after in a nice way. The only way to improve is to continue this level of performance, even when dealing with difficult patients. I thank all the doctors and nurses during my treatment and recovery. I'll be back again soon, do I'll have a high standard to compare it too. You realise that people in this profession are amazing, it doesn't hit you until you're at home. You soon realise that not even family care as much as the nurses and doctors about your wellbeing, it takes a special kind of person to do these jobs and i am thankful we have a great NHS services, despite all the bad publicity and political trains our services has to deal with.

Profile

I am a specialist Anaesthetist with interests in Obstetric, Ambulatory and Inpatient anaesthesia. I employ a variety of anaesthetic techniques including general or regional anaesthesia, although I often use them in combination to optimise and enhance patients' peri and post-operative experience.
I am dedicated to putting the patient first through the provision of safe and reassuring care delivered in conjunction with my colleagues and associates.
I was present at the inauguration of the Helsinki Declaration in June 2010. This enshrines the values essential to the promotion of the highest professional and safety standards expected of anaesthetists. It is my hope to match or even exceed the expectations of patients who place their trust in me.
